How to turn on 2FA for your Mercado Facinho account
On this page
To turn on 2FA, go to your account's security settings and register an authenticator app or a passkey. Also keep your recovery codes in a safe place.
What it is for
2FA protects your account with a second step. Even if someone finds out your password, they cannot sign in without your app or your key.
Is it required?
- To buy: it is optional, but recommended.
- To sell: it is required to create listings and to keep listings active. Without 2FA, you cannot see your sales, mark deliveries, see statistics, or answer questions and reviews.
- If you turn off 2FA, your active listings are paused. To reactivate them, you need to turn 2FA on again.
Step by step
- Sign in to your account.
- Open the security settings.
- Choose to turn on 2FA.
- Choose the method: authenticator app or passkey.
- Follow the on-screen instructions. With an authenticator app, scan the QR Code and enter the 6-digit code the app shows.
- Save your recovery codes.
Recovery codes
They are your way back in if you lose your phone or access to your authenticator. Keep them in a safe place, away from the device you use for 2FA, and do not share them.
No SMS
Facinho does not use SMS codes for you to sign in to your account. SMS is only used for level 2 identity verification for sellers.
Stay signed in
With "Stay signed in", the device becomes a trusted device for 180 days and does not ask for 2FA at every sign-in. Sensitive actions still ask for confirmation.
Warning
Facinho never asks for your 2FA code or your recovery codes, through any channel. If someone asks, it is a scam.
